Mr. Govind Shrikhande, spearheads the largest department store chain in India.
He joined Shoppers Stop, as Head of Buying & Merchandising, in April 2001, became the COO in 2004 and was promoted to the position of CEO in April 2006. He became the Managing Director of the Company in 2009. The Company has doubled the number of stores under his leadership in the last three years.
Under his leadership Shoppers Stop undertook a major Logo and Positioning Evolution in 2008. Post this it is the undisputed leader in The Bridge To Luxury Category of Department Stores in India.
Recently, he re-positioned Shoppers Stop for the Omnichannel era by getting Amazon to invest in the company and also selling off the loss making HyperCity chain to Future Group.
Mr. Shrikhande is extremely focused on people and is passionate about products and services for the Consumer.
He firmly believes in Team Work and is committed to making the workplace into an enjoyable experience.
A Textile Graduate from VJTI, Mumbai and a MBA from Symbiosis, Pune, Mr. Shrikhande has more than 27 years of experience in leading Textile and Apparel companies like Mafatlal, Arvind, Arrow and Bombay Dyeing.
He was part of the team responsible for creating the Denim Revolution in India in the ‘90s.
He was also a key member of the Arrow launch team, contributing to making it the No.1 Shirt brand in the Premium Category.
Mr. Shrikhande is a big fan of Pu La Deshpande and P. G. Woodehouse. He loves listening to old film songs and watching cricket.
Govind is a well regarded speaker & jury at many National & International Events.
He has been a Jury at some of the most Prestigious Awards.
